How it works
Drag a file
Pick up one or more files in Finder or File Explorer, as if you were moving them somewhere.
Hold a key
A wheel of choices opens around the pointer. Each key opens a different wheel.
Drop it on a format
The result is saved next to the original, or in Downloads if you prefer. Right-click works too: Convert with Zest is in the file menu.

| Convertturn it into another format | ⇧ Shift | Shift |
| Toolscompress, merge, split or extract | ⌘ Command | Ctrl |

Offline
Every conversion happens on your computer. Files are never uploaded, and Zest works without an internet connection.
The installer brings its own engines (LibreOffice, FFmpeg, Pandoc, Ghostscript and the ONLYOFFICE converter), so you don't need Microsoft Office or anything else installed. That is also why the download is a few hundred megabytes.
First launch
This version is not signed with an Apple or Microsoft developer certificate yet, so the system asks once before it opens Zest.
macOS
- Open the DMG and drag Zest into Applications.
- Open Zest. macOS says it could not verify the app; click Done.
- Go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway and confirm with your password.
Windows
- Run the installer.
- If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Click Next until Finish. Zest starts in the notification area.
